MINI “AS IF” EXPERIMENTS

When you’re selling, you often need to change your attitude. Research has shown that these “as if” strategies actually work. Give them a couple of minutes to take effect.

To increase persistence: Sit up straight (no slouching) and hold your head high. This is the physicality of determined people. Don’t give up too soon.

To have more willpower: Cross your arms, make a fist, or squeeze a pencil. Tensing your muscles increases your resolve to stay the course. Sellers with grit succeed.

To raise your confidence: Assume a power pose for two minutes before an important sales meeting or an interview. Confidence is contagious.

To be happier: Laugh for two minutes. Not about anything in particular. Just laugh. Start with some “tee-hees” and move into “ho-hos.” Happy reps accomplish more.
